THE DIAPERING DILEMMA
Diapering has always been at the fore front of baby care. That gentle skin needs to be kept clean and dry so that the baby is healthy and happy. You may find yourself fretting over cloth or disposable diapers, the brand and the diaper style. Let’s explore our options to make an informed decision.
Cloth Diapering VS Disposables
Cloth nappies have traditionally been widely used in India. They are easy on the baby’s skin and are thought not to cause rashes. Rashes however are caused by soiled diapers be it cloth or disposable. The first rule of thumb when it comes to diapering is to change the diaper once it is full or soiled. On the flip side, cloth diapers add to your laundry load and are less absorbent compared to their disposable counterpart.
Busting Disposable Diaper Myths
Millennial mothers however are embracing disposables for several reasons. Disposables are light weight, convenient as you can simply toss in the bin after use and against popular misconception, are in fact more breathable than cloth diapers. Your little one can wear them through the day without any concern. Following some simple rules such as using the right diaper size and allowing some free diaper time for the baby will ensure that precious bum stays in the pink of health.
New Age 3x Diapers by Pampers
Parenting is a monumental task and one that will tire you out at the end of the day. A good night’s sleep is essential to keep both mommy and baby not cranky through the next day. A baby who is clean and dry will be more likely to sleep the night. With growing babies, their amount of pee is not contained by the diaper and causes bed spills.
I recently shifted to the new 3X channel absorption Pampers diaper pants. These are super absorbent and use a 3-channel absorption technology which can contain more pee and keep the baby dry at the same time. This shift eliminated the bed spill issue with my older child.
What I like about Pamper pants is the snug fit it offers. The elastic at the waist allows you to pull up with ease be it an infant, toddler or child and once soiled you can easily pull apart from the side. These are especially convenient on the go when a diaper changing table is not always handy.
Ultimately what matters is that the baby is healthy and happy. From a new born who goes through several diapers a day to a child who is now diaper free, a mother’s role is to ensure that the baby’s skin is always kept clean, dry and well moisturised.
